This line is in what was East Germany. Signals around Coswig have East German (OSShD) signals. The upper two lamps of the signal indicate the aspect to expect at the next signal. The lower part of the signal, along with the amber or green dot lines, indicates the speed valid from here on. You may regard the upper part as the distant signal, and the lower part as the main signal. The dot line at the bottom indicates speed when a yellow lower signal applies - Green line = 100km/h, yellow line = 60km/h, no line = 40 km/h.

The top (distant) signal indications are green = clear, flashing green = expect 100km/h, flashing yellow = expect 60 or 40km/h, yellow = expect red.

A signal with a circle plate on the post is a distant repeater.
